About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee a Section 278 highway works and hard landscaping package on a key civils scheme in Taunton . This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring strong coordination and leadership to ensure safe and efficient delivery of the works.

Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-day management of site operations for 278 works and hard landscaping
Supervise site teams and subcontractors to ensure work is delivered on time and to spec
Liaise with the client, local authorities, and project stakeholders
Manage health & safety compliance and site inductions
Coordinate materials, plant, and logistics
Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and risk assessments

Requirements:

Proven experience managing 278 works and hard landscaping projects
Strong knowledge of highways specifications, street works, and public realm standards
SMSTS certification essential
CSCS card (Black or Gold preferred)
First Aid at Work
Strong communication, leadership, and reporting skills
Ability to manage multiple trades and keep works progressing efficiently
